Everytime I open up an excel file with links in 2007, a message comes at the top that says 'Automatic update of links has been disabled' and I have to click on that and change the radio button to 'Enable this content'. To enable the multi-threading feature, click the FILE tab and select Options to open the Excel Options dialog box, as mentioned earlier. Click Advanced in the menu on the left. Scroll down to the Formulas section and select the Enable multi-threaded calculation check box so there is a check mark. Jun 30, 2017 Hi, I recently upgraded (this month) from Office 2008 to Office 2016. I'm running Sierra on a Mac mini. We have Word files that have embedded links to Excel files, and when we need to create a new Word file and link it to a new Excel file, we duplicate both, rename both, and then update the links in the Word file to point to the correct Excel file.

Manual recovery mac software. I have more than 20 excel sheets that are all linked and need to update.
The problem is that sometimes users forget to click enable automatic update of links. How do I get this to be automatic on all PCs?

Check out this KB article method 4: Manual mac os update.
Method 4:
Enable the automatic update for data connections or workbook links in the Trust Center To enable the automatic update for data connections or workbook links in the External Content section of the Trust Center, follow these steps:
You cannot and should not have objects or processes managed by the trust center automatically do anything. This is setting a bad precedent. Instead, you should set the workbooks to prompt the users to update every time they open the workbook. If the users are prompted, they will be reminded to update the links.
Additionally, you can take a look at this KB article
